Our department provides 30% English Supported Bachelor Program. In addition to undergraduate education, Energy, Construction & Manufacturing, Machine Theory and Dynamics, Mechanics, and Thermodynamics M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes are offered.
Our department is one of the best engineering education institutions in our country with its experienced faculty members and wide laboratory facilities.
GENERAL STRUCTURE AND PROGRAMME OF THE INSTITUTION
Dokuz Eylul University, Department of Mechanical Engineering started education in 1968 as a department of Ege University Faculty of Engineering Sciences. With the establishment of Dokuz Eylul University in 1982, the Department was included in the Faculty of Engineering-Architecture. In 1992, the Architecture and Urban Regional Planning Departments were separated from the faculty.
Between 1992-2024, the evening class program had been carried out.

PROGRAM PROFILE (Purpose, Structure, Areas of Focus, Department Facilities)
The aim of the program is to educate engineers who can take an active role in professional practices and organizations, improve themselves through continuous learning, communicate effectively, work as a team, work in multidisciplinary environments, combine the research and development culture they have gained with current scientific and technological developments, produce effective solutions to engineering problems in their working life, consider ethical and social principles in their work throughout their engineering life, are sensitive to environmental problems, seek realistic solutions that are economical and sustainable, and are preferred in the fields of new technology and product development thanks to their scientific background.
The education program of the department is accredited by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Education Programs (MUDEK) and so, has the EUR- ACE® Label.
In addition to professional education and training activities, our department is also active in applied and theoretical research. Students who successfully complete the undergraduate programme can complete the Double Major Undergraduate Programme (DMP) and/or Minor Programme in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Textile Engineering, and Industrial Engineering Programmes. Students who complete the Double Major Programme are awarded a diploma in a second discipline and those who complete the Minor Programme are awarded a certificate in a second discipline.
Since 2010, the BOLOGNA Process (European Higher Education Area harmonisation studies), which enables the citizens of the countries within the European Higher Education Area to easily move around Europe for higher education or work, has started. Diploma Supplement can be given to the students who will graduate in 2011.
As of 2012, the Department has 5 bilateral agreements within the scope of ERASMUS Student and Academic Exchange Programme, which supports the exchange of students and academicians by making bilateral agreements with internationally respected quality institutions, thus aiming to increase the knowledge and experience gained.
As of 2025, education and research activities continue with a large academic staff consisting of 19 professors, 8 associate professors, 3 assist. prof., 8 research assistants, 4 technicians,3 staffs.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering provides services within the scope of local, regional, national and international cooperation with public and private sector organisations with its qualified and experienced academic and technical staff, research facilities in advanced laboratories.
