Short History of Mechanical Engineering Department
From 1968 to Present…
The Mechanical Engineering Department has been founded in 1968 within the Faculty of Engineering Sciences at Ege University. After the establishment of Dokuz Eylül University in 1982, it has become part of Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Engineering – Architecture. With the separation of the Faculty of Architecture in 1992, the name of the faculty has been changed as Faculty of Engineering. Mechanical Engineering Department has started its evening program beginning with the 1992-1993 academic year. The Department has moved to its new buildings in Tınaztepe campus in 2012. Within the Department of Mechanical Engineering the major disciplines are:

• Construction & Manufacturing,
• Mechanics
• Machine Theory & Dynamics,
• Thermodynamics
• Automotive
The Department carries out 30% English supported Turkish curriculum in daytime and evening programs. Besides the undergraduate education, Master of Science and Doctorate programs are also carried out within the directorship of Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences in the disciplines of Energy, Construction – Manufacturing, Machine Theory and Dynamics, Mechanics and Thermodynamics.
